Driver Requirements

Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to become a takeaut driver. For vehicle deliveries, you must be 21 or older with a valid driver's license.

Valid Driver's License

A valid driver's license is required for all vehicle-based deliveries. For bike or scooter deliveries, a valid ID is sufficient. Your license must be in good standing with no major violations in the past 3 years.

Vehicle Requirements

You can deliver using:

• Car, truck, or van (must be registered and insured)
• Motorcycle or scooter (must be registered and insured)
• Bicycle (no registration required)
• Walking (for short-distance deliveries)

All motorized vehicles must have valid registration and insurance.

Background Check

All drivers must pass a background check. This typically takes 1-3 business days. We check for criminal history, driving records, and verify your identity. Minor traffic violations are usually acceptable, but serious offenses may disqualify you.

Smartphone & App

You'll need a smartphone (iOS or Android) with the takeaut Driver app installed. The app is free and available on the App Store and Google Play. Your phone must have GPS capabilities and a data plan.

Insurance

For vehicle deliveries, you must have valid auto insurance that meets your state's minimum requirements. We also provide commercial insurance coverage while you're actively on a delivery, but you must maintain your personal policy.
